Daniel Schwinger
Daniel, born in rural Bavaria in Germany in 1993, joined the Hartwig group as a visiting student researcher in October 2018 to study the activation of aromatic C-H bonds for his master’s thesis. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2015 and in business management in 2017 at Technical University of Munich, where he is also pursuing his master’s degree. During his chemistry bachelor’s thesis, he worked on photoinduced radical cyclizations in the lab of Prof. Dr. Thorsten Bach. Sparked by his awesome semester in Australia, he was interested to go abroad once more and thus decided to come to Berkeley. If he is not in the lab, you can find him out with friends, working out in the gym, or at home watching TV series.
