Haoquan Li grew up in Zhongshan, a "small" city in southern China. He received his B.S. (Chemistry) in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China in 2011. Then, he started his 5-year-long journey in Europe. Firstly he spent two years (2011-2013) in Rennes, France, a historical city near the Atlantic sea, studying reduction chemistry using well-defined iron catalysis with Prof. Christophe Darcel and Dr. Jean-Baptiste Sortais in Université de Rennes 1. After graduation, he moved to Leibniz Institut für Katalyse in Rostock, Germany, a peaceful resort at the coast of Baltic Sea, to pursue his ph.D study (2013-2016), mainly studying carbonylation reactions in the research team of Organic Bulk Chemicals(led by Dr. Ralf Jackstell), under the supervision of Prof. Matthias Beller. After enjoying three long winters in Rostock, he jumped to sunny place for post-doc. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
