Konstantin Troshin was born in 1985 and grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia. After studying at the Saint Petersburg State University, he moved to Germany and joined the group of Professor Herbert Mayr. During his Ph.D. studies, which he finished in 2012, he was working on the chemistry of 1,3-diarylallyl cations and related compounds, in particular on the ion pair dynamics during solvolyses of 1,3-diarylallyl carboxylates, and the reactivities of 1,3-diarylallylpalladium complexes. After getting a taste of transition metal chemistry, he could not resist the temptation to continue working in this field and joined the Hartwig group as a DFG fellow to work on a project devoted to the search for new transition-metal-catalyzed reactions. Outside of the lab, he enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, powerlifting, climbing, and reading.
