Qing-Wei Zhang studied organic chemistry in Lanzhou University. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2012 from the same institute under the supervision of Prof. Yong-Qiang Tu, studying asymmetric catalysis and total synthesis of natural products. He joined Dr. Wei He's group in the fall of 2012 under the support of a CLS postdoctoral fellowship. His research involves the development of catalytic methods to construct C-Si bonds, including asymmetric variants. In 2015, he joined the Hartwig group at UC Berkeley studying transition metal catalysis and medicinal chemistry. He enjoys playing badminton in the spare time.
